The Modem Cooperage Barrel, a 284-liter stainless steel container in the shape of a barrique.
These, wooden staves of different origins are placed on an internal carousel. Cooling and heating is possible thanks to rotating, coolable tires. The paddle integrated into the carousel allows batonnage to be carried out without opening the barrel. Micro-oxygenation is ensured by a patented permeable membrane that can be integrated into the bung closure. The stainless steel container has various advantages over a standard barrique barrel: It is easier to clean, disinfect and more economical in the long term because only the staves need to be replaced, thus saving wood This leads to a smaller CO2 footprint. The durable special container also offers a high level of oxidation protection and avoids evaporation losses. The 284-litre barrel weighs 69 kg and contains a carousel with up to 20 staves. In terms of size, it is identical to a 225-litre barrique barrel.
